Role purpose
Based in Brasilia, the Government Affairs Manager will drive the implementation of the Syngenta public affairs strategy and advocacy in the Federal level and manage the company’s government relations to position its sustainability agenda.
Accountabilities

Identify, monitor, and analyze local policy issues, legislative proposals and developments in the Federal level and how it impacts Syngenta, being able to develop advocacy and response strategies
Represent Syngenta in meetings with key stakeholders. Support outreach to policymakers, de-velopers, non-profit organizations, and other entities
Counsel Syngenta’s senior management in meetings with government officials and other stakeholders. Act as an escalation point of contact for internal and external stakeholders in the Federal level
Provide regular updates to the External Affairs’ leader: assess risks to the business issues mapping and action plans (monthly); report on issues, actions take, wins/losses (weekly); de-velop reports for use in country/regional function reports as required
Work with cross functional teams across the company to ensure Syngenta policy outreach in Brazil advances external understanding around key policy issues
Manage the creation of content materials to support engagement efforts. Partner with internal and external communication peers to ensure an aligned, integrated and consistent communica-tion platform
Manage third parties political advisors, government affairs consultancies, required other third-party service and the budget dedicated to support the role’s responsibilities execution.

 

Qualifications

 Critical knowledge

  • Minimum bachelors degree in public policy, law, international relations and/or communications; post-graduate or professional degrees a plus in public policy, communications, international relations or related field
  • Fluent in written and spoken in Portuguese and English
  • Extensive knowledge of decision-making procedures of Brazilian government institutions

Critical experience

  • Proven professional experience in Government Relations / Public Affairs
  • Well-connected expert with consistent professional experience in Brasilia
  • Proven ability to represent high profile organizations and to tackle complex and ambiguous is-sues

Additional information
Candidates not necessarily should be living now in Brasilia, but have done it before anytime in the past sufficient to prove its experience in government relations in federal level
