The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation.

The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

The Forum is expanding its presence in Japan and building a team to develop and accelerate its impact in the country through community development, relationship management, knowledge networks, regional business council activities and special projects.

The Business Engagement – Japan team is responsible for integrating business leaders from Japan into World Economic Forum activities and communities, including the Forum’s System Initiatives, Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and Global Centre for Cybersecurity.

Reporting to the Chief Representative Officer for the World Economic Forum in Japan as well as to the Community Lead based in Geneva, the Business Engagement Lead will be based in Tokyo and help identify new members and partners from the country, creating and executing engagement plans for existing members and partners in Japan.

As Business Engagement Lead, you will:

• Act as the primary person to manage and develop long-term, trusted relationships between the Forum and key business leaders in Japan
• Build relationships with the Forum’s existing regional business community and shape their yearly engagement in coordination with the Business Engagement – Japan team in Geneva and other Forum teams
• Develop the Forum’s membership community in Japan by identifying key potential Members and Partners, understanding their strategic interests and priorities, and shaping compelling value propositions for these companies
• Serve as a trusted adviser for Partner companies in Japan, guiding them on the Forum’s platform and ensuring that they derive the highest value from their engagement
• Understand strategic interests of key business leaders and translate them into tailored partnerships and engagement plans, ensuring continuous successful delivery of these plans
• Monitor closely and evaluate business developments, media reports and policy changes that impact Japanese business leaders and identify leading-edge, emerging companies and entrepreneurs that can contribute to and engage in the mission of the Forum
• Lead on shaping the regional context, especially Japan’s business perspective, and incorporating this into the Forum’s global agenda through collaborating with the Forum’s Global Programming team
• Organize community events for Forum Member companies from Japan, two per year in Japan and once in San Francisco, with the Chief Representative Officer in attendance

Relevant experience and skillset:

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in international relations, business administration, economics, or other relevant field
• At least 7 years’ professional experience in relevant industries, with significant exposure to Japan
• Native fluency in Japanese and excellent proficiency in English
• Prior experience in a client-facing function with a proven track record in business development
• Ability to work with and build long-term, trust-based relationships with C-suite executives
• Strategic and creative skills in thinking, research, writing and presentation
• Demonstrated leadership capacity, excellence in the fields of business, culture and geopolitics, and a proven interest in global affairs
• An established network of senior business contacts in Japan

東京事務所勤務となるビジネスエンゲージメント担当リードは、世界経済フォーラム日本事務所事務所長およびジュネーヴ本部の日本担当ビジネスエンゲージメント責任者と連携及び報告しつつ、日本の新しい加盟企業やパートナーの特定を支援し、日本の既存の加盟企業とパートナー向けにエンゲージメントプランを作成し実行します。

ビジネスエンゲージメント担当リードの業務内容：

• 当フォーラムと日本の主要なビジネスリーダー、また新興企業のリーダーとの長期的な信頼関係を管理し、発展させる重要な存在としての役割を担う
• ジュネーヴの日本担当ビジネスエンゲージメントチームおよび当フォーラムの他のチームと連携し、当フォーラムの既存のビジネスコミュニティとの関係を築き、既存のビジネスコミュニティのために毎年エンゲージメントプランを形成する
• 当フォーラムへの参加可能性のある重要な企業やパートナーを検討・特定し、こうした企業やパートナーの戦略上の関心分野および優先事項について理解を深め、価値のある提案を企画しつつ、、日本においてこうしたリーディング企業のコミュニティを発展させる
• 日本のパートナー・メンバー企業にとって信頼できるアドバイザーとしての役割を担い、日本のパートナー・メンバー企業が当フォーラムのプラットフォームを活用し、企業がエンゲージメントから価値を最大限に引き出せるよう責任を負う
• 企業のトップ・ビジネスリーダーの戦略上の関心を理解し、各企業に合わせたパートナーシップ・メンバーシッププラン、エンゲージメントプランを企画・提案し、これらのプランの実行・実現をめざす
• 日本のビジネス界にに影響する様々な企業の新たな展開、メディアの報道、企業の戦略的方針の転換を注意深くモニタリング、分析し、当フォーラムのミッションに貢献・エンゲージできる可能性のある最先端の新興企業や起業家等とのネットワークを広げる
• 日本の政治経済的状況を踏まえ日本のコンテクスト、とりわけ日本の企業の将来の戦略・成長分野を把握し、当フォーラムのグローバルプログラムチームとの連携を通じて、そのコンテクストを当フォーラムのグローバル・アジェンダに組み入れられるようリードする
• 当フォーラムに加盟している日本の企業向けに駐在事務所長が出席するコミュニティイベントを年に3回企画、開催する（日本で開催するイベント2回、サンフランシスコで開催するイベント1回）

条件（経歴・スキル/資格）：

• 国際関係、企業経営、経済、またはその他の関連分野の修士号もしくは同等の資格の取得者
• 関連する業界で最低7年の勤務経験がある者（日本での十分な勤務経験もしくは日本の企業を相手にした十分な実務経験）
• 日本語を母国語とし、高い英語力を有する者
• クライアントビジネスの経験があり、事業開発等の分野で堅実な実績を有する者
• 経営陣/役員と連携し、信頼に基づく長期的な関係を築く能力を有する者
• 戦略的およびクリエイティブな思考、調査、執筆、プレゼンテーションを行うスキルを有する者
• リーダーシップを発揮し、ビジネス、文化、地政学の分野において優れた知識有し、世界情勢・世界が直面する課題について大きな関心を有する者
• 日本企業の経営幹部社員と確固たる人脈を築いている者
